Dr. Carolina Parra

Dr. Parra joined the Department of Physics at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM) in 2013 and directs the Nanobiomaterials Laboratory since its creation in 2016. Prior to joining UTFSM, Dr. Parra was postdoctoral fellow of Dr. Hari Manoharan’s Group in the Physics Department at Stanford University (2009-2013) where she studied local electronic properties of quantum materials such as nanostructured topological insulators and high-Tc superconductors.

Current areas of research:

· Nanostructured topological systems with exotic electronic properties such as topological insulators, Weyl semi-metal, graphene and boron nitride.

· Local electronic properties of low-dimensional materials through LT-STS.

· Applied nanobiomaterials, a multidisciplinary line close to Materials Science associated with the application of nanotechnology to solve industrial problems of a biological nature.
